Concrete Polishing Process
1. Cleaning Process
The first stage will begin with the cleaning process. We remove the existing coating carefully from the surface. If you have a thick coating, we will use a 16- or 20-grit diamond abrasive or more aggressive tool specifically for coating removal, such as a T-RexTM. The reason why cleaning the surface is necessary is that the floor needs to get ready for the concrete polish installation process. Our trained floor experts will carefully clean the surface and look for contaminants so that nothing sticks to the surface.
2. Floor Preparation
After we clean the surface, we will look for cracks and joints. Seal them up with an epoxy or other semi-rigid filler. The next step will be to use a grinder with a 30- or 40-grit metal-bonded diamond, 80-grit metal-bonded diamond, or 150-grit metal-bonded diamond, or even finer if required. After doing that, we will apply a chemical hardener to densify the concrete. That way, we prepare the floor for the concrete polish process.
3.Applying Stain Guard
Once stage 1 and 2 are completed. We will then begin polishing with a 100- or 200-grit resin-bond diamond or a combination of the two, 400-grit resin-bond diamond and 800-grit resin-bond diamond. And finally, finish with a 1500- or 3000-grit resin-bond diamond, depending on the sheen level that you wish to achieve. We can also apply a stain guard to help protect the polished surface and make it easier to maintain; however, that’s optional. We do recommend stain guard, though, because it enables you to run your small business and walk on the floor without worrying about stubborn stains sticking on the floor. And that’s about it; this way, you will add a fantastic shine/sheen to the floor.
